"Collecting History - Talking Art"

Gallery Talk Following the exhibition "Everyday souvenirs" // on souvenirs and collectibles

Tourism souvenirs, original Eretz Israel products that were issued for commercial purposes, have long become valuable collectibles. In recent decades more and more artists and craftsmen are reproducing and re-creating collective memoirs that combine nostalgic elements and critical elements. These shelf products are offered at accessible prices to an audience of history and culture.

The discourse will deal with the connection between historical collectivity, nostalgia for art and art and commercial art in the Israeli market.

Participants:
Amit Shimoni, illustrator and designer, creates a series  "Hipstory", a project that gives contemporary interpretation to the image of historical leaders.
Eric Eliahu Bokobza, an artist who touches on the works of Israeli culture and identity.

Moderated by Inbar Dror Lax, Curator of the City Museum.

After the dialogue, a tour of exhibitions will take place with the curator of the museum.
