The exhibition offers an introduction to the city of Haifa in both the past and the present. Over the centuries, this sphere was inhabited by the members of different religions, which evolved into different communities, congregations, and sects. It was also settled by foreigners from more distant countries, whose presence attests to the importance of this area for international commerce. This pluralistic history has served as the basis for the modern, cosmopolitan city.
This display offers an introduction to the development of modern Haifa. The exhibits on display, the projected information, and the chronological timeline come together to tell the story of the city during three central historical periods: the Ottoman period, the British Mandate, and the period following the foundation of the state of Israel.
